1995 Chevy 1500 Severe Starting/Running Problem, PLEASE HELP!

Hello everyone, I am in absolutely desperate shape here! I recently acquired a 1995 Chevy 1500 Truck, it is a Manual Transmission, with a 4.3 Vortec V-6 engine. For the last couple of weeks, my truck has been acting like there was a dead-spot in the starter motor, which was only 3-4 months old. So, I went and got a replacement, and installed it. Then two days ago after replacing the starter motor, my truck got worse with the starting issue, it went from making a clacking noise at the starter, to nothing at all when I turn the key. So, I had to push start it to get anywhere.... then out of the blue, my gauges and warning lights start going haywire, and the truck sputters, chugs and loses power badly. I have replaced the starter, put in a brand new battery (which is reading full power on the test meter) and a new alternator, I also have uncovered as much of the wiring as I can reach and see to check for any shorts in the wiring. Everything looks solidly connected, I even made fresh ground connections for the harness....however, this still has not helped get the truck running!! I started suspecting it was the ECM, but when I went to Advance Auto Parts and bought another ECM, after plugging it in, the truck still didnt do anything. Does anyone have any idea on how I can fix this?! Please help me if you can!

Are you sure about that info? They didn't use a 4.3 Vortec in the 95 1500. What is the 8th digit of the VIN#? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You do not have a Vortec. You have a 4.3 TBI motor. A lot of your problems may have to do with the quality of the starters you are using. I think your power failures are due to melted or disconnected fusible links which attach to the main post of the starter.

I apologize, I do understand what you are telling me, the problem is with the starter. This is just my first time ever hearing about a fuseable link on a starter. This starting issue has happened with two starters in a row, so I am in agreeing that I need to change starter brands. I am still trying to understand how the starter would cause the entire truck to go haywire in the ignition system and instrument cluster all at the same time.

A fusible link is a special "melt-away" wire used instead of a large fuse and on your truck they all get their power supply from the battery cable where it's attached to the starter.
