1991 Dodge Dynasty Ballast resister

Does the Dynasty have a ballast resister that can cause the electronic ignition coil to not work properly. If so where is it located under my hood. Parts depts don't seem to carry this. Second ignition coil installed within 4 weeks. Car runs perfect for short time, then it needs to be towed. Never had any problems of this before, has always run excellent. Please help store running out of ignition coils.

No these cars do not use a ballast resistor and if the ignition coil has actually burnt out, maybe check as to what battery voltage is the next time you get it running. It’s not likely but the alternator maybe over charging causing this. Normal battery voltage with the engine running should be anywhere between 13.5 and 14.5 volts.
Like I said it’s not likely because you would have as few other symptoms as in lights becoming much brighter as the RPM was increased, a smell of sulphur (sp?) as the battery started gassing and other electronics burning out due to high voltage.
Have you checked for battery voltage at the ignition coil’s positive terminal (the dark green/black wire) during cranking ?
This same dark green/black wire feeds the fuel injectors, fuel pump and the O2 heater via the ASD (auto shut down) relay.
It’s possible that you purchased one bad ignition coil but a third is not very likely.
Let us know what you find and we’ll go from there.
