Not sure if this is the correct forum but hope so...My 89 f150 idles fine, but when I shift into gear reverse or drive it stalls out, when it does get going it will stall out going down the road but is I put a little pressure on the ignition switch with my finger it will start back up and continue going, I have replaced the ignition switch and checked the ignition actuator, not sure where to go from their, any help would be wonderful....Thanks

Did you replace the ignition lock or the electrical switch? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I'll ask you again......... Was it the ignition lock and tumbler or the electrical ignition switch that you replaced? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

OK, that is not the ignition switch. that is the ignition lock and has absolutely nothing to do with the issue you are having. The actual ignition switch is located on top of the steering column, under the dash.

Switch looks like this. If you drop the bolts holding the column up in the inside it will lower the column enough to see it. The lock cylinder simply moves a rod on top of the column going to that switch. The switch itself if a common wear item for these vintage of Fords. Pretty easy fix.
