08 Taurus Turn Signal Sign In

I have an 08 Taurus that has a fast blink on the passenger rear turn signal. I replaced the bulb even though it didn't look blown. That wasn't it. I then replaced the socket since it was brown like it looked like it was bad. That also didn't fix my problem. All other lights work in that cluster. Also the other rear and front blinker work.

Any ideas?

Re: 08 Taurus Turn Signal Sign In

Should be a slow day and rightfully so. OK: Fast turn signals 'usually' is indicative of more draw on that side if one side. Did your replacement suspect bad socket come with wires or what/how did you do that?

Both front and rear matter so draw might be the front so check that too.

Bulbs may fit and be wrong if messed with before or changed out for any reason. Should really see if #s match the other side that you are not noticing a problem. There is some problem if it does this.

I find in order.....

Sockets bad,
Bulb wrong,
If equipped - trailer wiring.

If none of those it's a hunt for why. The socket looking bad already I'm still thinking about. Any chance it get wet in there?

Testing should be coming before replacing. Use a test light to test for power and ground coming into the socket.

The socket did not come with any wires. It just had a plug. So I pulled the wires out of the old and put in the new. Again all other lights work. The same light works for regular running lights. But doesn't blink for blinker. I also checked bulb and it's the right one.

Any other ideas

Two filiments in same bulb so think of it as two bulbs. I'd take that one out and see what happens when you try turn signals. Should about stop blinking on that side. If still fast the problem is more likely the socket where the new one plugged in to.

You said the socket looked different (discolored) which suggests it gets hot or messed up right there. You said it works just fast so it gets power and ground.

Can you see the "pig tail" end of where the socket fits into?

Sorry to have confused you. The bulb and socket that I'm having problems with is the same for brake lights and rear night time lights. That light works for braking and regular night time lights. But the blinker does not. It makes a fast blink sound and does not flash.

OK - I missed something and thought it just blinked fast but worked. Not lighting at all it's missing power or ground. Forget what I call "running" lights even though inside same bulb those are not the same wires just the same socket used for one bulb. May share the ground. An incandescent test light should help show brighter on turn or brake power if one tested good one and dimmer on just running lights.

You still said you saw flaws in the socket didn't you? That's still first place to look behind the new socket to what powers it,
