How about some more info......
Year, make and model
What exactly is it doing or not doing?
Is it showing security lock?

That just sounds like a problem with the radio or amp. I doubt it has anything to do with the dead battery accept maybe accelerating the failure from trying to run it on low power.

Repairing a radio is always a losing proposition, regardless of who repairs it.

The normal path here is to just verify that the radio and any separate amp is receiving all the proper power supplies and grounds before you condemn it and then just install an aftermarket radio. It's a lot cheaper.
