cassette tape stuck in player - olds 88 (1997) Login - Sign Up

Please Help! There is a tape stuck in my player. Pushing "eject" results in a motor sound but no movement. Is there a way to recover it without taking out/taking apart the whole radio/tape player?

If not, how does one go about removing the player, and is this a job we can tackle at home, or should we just bite the bullet and pay someone to take care of this? The cassette is part of a (large and expensive) library book-on-tape and we will have to pay to replace it if we cannot recover the tape.

There are 3 ways to go about it.
  • Attempt to get it out yourself using the oldschool way of placing a knife under the front of the cassette if you can access it, lever it a little and hit eject.
  • Take the whole head unit out, and take it apart from the top to access the tape.
  • Get a professional in.

Let me know which way you want to go with it. I will help you
