My problem is I have a 1992 Chevy Van that has an am/fm radio. My problem began when i took the doghouse off so I could change my spark plugs. I took the plugs out and during this time i had switched the ignition to the on position instead of acc. I left the vehicle for about 2 hours with the key in the on position and when i returned I put the new plugs in and reinstalled the doghouse. When I started my van and tried to use the radio the lights on the digital readout were not on. No lights on the radio and nothing but static coming over the speakers. I checked the 10 amp fuse and it looked okay but I replaced it anyway just in case but that made no difference. Could I have kncocked something loose taking the doghouse off and reinstalling? Did I burn something out in the radio? There's a lot of good people with wide range of experience. If I remember correctly that's a 2 piece doghouse. There is only a couple of harnesses you have to disconnect to get the 1 piece off but nothing with the radio but the radio is right above it. The best thing to do would be to take the doghouse back off & look at the back of the radio & make sure nothing was distrubed........... There was one disconnect involved between the upper and lower doghouse components and that was the lighter wire which i reconnected. Other than that I have looked up at the underside of the radio and felt around and cannot find anything loose. I just wonder if leaving the key in the on position could have burned something out inside the radio? Barring anything getting knocked loose or pinched then it was just coincidence that the radio went out....... Leaving it on for 2 hrs wouldn't hurt anything, it would be the same as driving for 5hrs with it on....
