car radio motorized screen problem

i bought a radio off my friend. it is a spl sid8900. everything worked fine after i installed it except the screen wouldnt come out when i hit open. after messing with it a little, i got the screen to come out half way then it goes back in. any solutions. i know the motor isn't broke because it still goes out halfway. im thinking its getting caught on something or off a track or something. any advice from somebody that knows a lot about radios?
