Toyota Corolla Audio Auxiliary In Jack Broken Sign In

Hi, I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla XRS with 2.4 liter engine.
The stereo works great, except for the auxiliary jack, where I plug in my ipod. It used to work fine, I would plug in the cable and the radio would automatically switch to auxiliary input as it recognized something was plugged in. The car is 3 years old and in the last year this problem started slowly. I had to start pushing the auxiliary button after the cable was plugged in. Then that wouldn't work so I tried turning the ipod on and off. That worked for a while. Then nothing I did would make the radio switch to auxiliary. At first I thought it was the cable but a new cable had the same problems. I think the jack is bad. Do I need to take out the whole stereo to get to it? The auxiliary jack is separate from the stereo unit, all the way down at the bottom of the control panel near the power outlet.

Thanks for your help,
Brooke

Since it's seperate, there may just be a loose or bad connection to the main unit. I would take it apart and if you have a different connecter that would hook into the unit try that and see if it makes a difference...
