Subaru buttons/clock not working Sign In

1997 Subaru legacy Gt. Buttons on radio stopped working and clock is just blinking 12:00 and can't be reset. Radio comes on fine and is permanently stuck at 87.9 FM. None of the buttons(all electrical) are responsive. Some sort of capacitor that went bad? When you plug in a tape it works fine but it can't be ejected because the button doesn't work (or rather there is no electrical signal getting to the unit when the button is pushed) I've done some radio repairs but if this is an integrated circuit problem or something similar, probably not worth the effort. Any help would be most appreciated.

Sounds like an internal malfuction. WOuld it be cheaper to replace? You said you have done some radio repair work, the decision is upto you. I think it sounds like a resister or diode in the circuitry has had it. Unless you are a soldering ninja, I would leave to the experts or buy a new one.

Thanks for advice. Got one on ebay for $39, coupled the cd player to it, and it works like new. Easy, inexpensive fix. Thanks again.
