Hi,
I have a VW Sharan 1997 1.9 tdi
Ive been having problem with my stereo for a while now and don't know what to try. When you start the car the stereo wont come on unless u wiggle and push the key in, lately I havnt been able to keep it on at all, soon as you stop pushing the key in, it goes off.
Thinking the ignition was dirty, I have tried spraying inside with WD40, which helped for a while. I took the steering covers off and looked around the ignition to see whether I could actually take the ignition out, but can't see how to remove just the ignition barrel, is this possible without removing the steering column?
Please can anyone advise me on what I can do or try to get the stereo working probably again or how to take the ignition barrel out to clean.

We don't have that vehicle here in the states, but usually the lock cylinder and ignition switch are two separate items. Cleaning or lubing the lock cylinder won't fix an ignition switch problem.
Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
