Shaker 500 to a Shaker 1000 Sign In

I bought a 09 Mustang GT with the Shaker 500 stereo system in it. How easy would it be to upgrade to the Shaker 1000 system. Are the wires ran in the car to add the subwoofers in the trunk and ready for subs to be installed and the amps? What would it take to install the Shaker 1000 deck as well?

Yes Sir, it is the factory radio and I would like to put the best factory option in it (the Shaker 1000). Should have just purchased the vehicle with it but talked myself out of having subwoofers......big mistake, I miss them too much. To clarify further, I would like to know if the car comes from the factory with all of the wiring for the Shaker 1000 even though this paticular vehicle only has the Shaker 500 installed in it from the factory. I was hoping to buy the deck and subs from ford or ebay and install myself without having to run any wiring and keep the original look and feel to the car.

I would say that the head unit wiring is the same from 500 - 1000, but may not be retro fitted with wiring for the amp to install your subs. May need to run some RCA leads from the back of the new unit into an amp and go from there.

I also just purchased a 2006 Saleen, has the 500 in it, and i too purchased a used 1000 COMPLETE !! Now im being told the cars are not pre-wired, and that the wiring from the main harness to the back of the 500 Head Unit, is totally different than the wiring used on the 1000 !! Im stuck as well, and Ford never wants to hear it when questions like these are asked !!

Anything is possible with wiring. But to be safe, take it to a stereo installer. It may have a different harness config, but if your stereo guy can lop off the 500 plug in and get a QC connector or a 1000 plug in, it can be wired in no problem. It just went form DIY to get someone to do it for you.
