Re: BMW radio code not working! Sign In

The battery was disconnected in my 2000 BMW Z3 which required the radio code to be reentered, but the radio will not begin normal operation.
I have BMW radio part #6512-8374 978 (Blaupunkt) serial # W0148056 and I have the correct code 13311, this code came written on the radio itself and I called the BMW dealer and he looked it up and gave me the same exact code number. I have entered the code several times and pressed the right (>) "manual station selection" button to confirm the code entry each time, but the radio will not begin normal operation.

I have performed this task on several BMW Blaupunkt's and never had this problem.

Does anybody have a fix for this?

Thanks
Darrel

It sounds like you know the correct procedure to enter the code.

On these if a code has been enter 3 times incorrectly the radio won't accept the code. The radio will need to be left on for 1 hour with the ign on before it will accept the code. You may want to hook up a charger for this so the battery doesn't drain down......

Thanks Sidom

Have done as you suggested, left the car on for 1 hr on the charger, thied the code again thrice. Left car on again for 1hr, then disconnected the battery with the car ignition in pos 2 and radio ON displaying CODE-----. Removed the radio, reconnected the battery. Will try again tomorrow. Any more ideas?
Thanks for your time & talent

No.....I honestly haven't run into this very much and it really looks pretty straight forward to enter the code. The only glitch looks like if the code gets tried too many times........ Some you just enter the code & it works, other you need to hit the right arrow. It looks like you are already aware of this so I felt no need to mention it & it sounds like you're doing it right......

The procedure was pretty clear about leaving the radio on and in the ign position... One thing you may try is doing it without a charger, that was just my suggestion so you wouldn't drain the battery & waste time but it might be possible that the higher voltage reading is messing the system up. Also I see where if you hear an audible beep while entering the code......stop and begin re entering the code starting with the 1st digit...
