First time post.

I was given a car cassette receiver (Kenwood KRC-980) after my cd receiver was stolen from my car. After installing it I found it failed to power up. I tested the current at the radios plug and it was definiately getting power. I opened up the faceplate after a copper contact fell into the faceplate and found what I think is the problem. Below this copper contact pad is two pairs of solder points that appear to have remnants of glue that I think might have had another metal piece to make contact with the above mentioned copper pad. It is hard to describe so I have a picture of the area described.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, the corresponding piece opposite of the copper patch on the face plate is missing a piece. Its sorta like a bend copper elbow that is flexible.

btw, would you happened to have a wiring diagram for the krc-980?

No I don't have the wiring diagram or the manual for this unit. There are a few features that I'm not sure what their function is for.

Hi, I am not sure about your problem but I was able to install my receiver with the help of an expert in a tech support site... I didn't see your receiver there but they have live chat support that you can use for free!

Here is the page for Kenwood Receivers Support

Good luck

Gary
