Hello, I have a 1993 Saturn SL2. I recently put in a JVC Stereo and all of the wires were fine. I installed 4 300 maximum wattage speakers and the CD player worked for 2 straight days. Today while driving to work, the CD player just turned off. I have checked all of the fuses and all of the wires. There is nothing broken or wrong with them. I tried putting the original radio back in and the clock did not display and the actual radio didn't work. I could, however, hear fuzz coming from all of the speakers. I just wanted to know if anyone has any advice at all for me to try. I have tried everything.

You need to check that your power wire is still connected, and that your earth is still earthed. This is the only explanation I can think of for a major power failure. POWER WIRE!

i disconnected the battery terminals for a few minutes and cleaned them with a wire brush and still, nothing. I have checked the power wires and the ground is grounded. I do have power to the original stereo though. I only get one radio station when I plug in the antenna. I'm gonna try cleaning the actual ground end, not just the terminal.

Hey mate, cleaning the ground won't do that much. If the power wire is secure to a power source then all should be ok with your stereo. You said your antenna wire is ok as well? This is crazy...What about your memory wire? It should be tucked into a permanant power supply (brake lights, cigarette power, battery) Is this spliced with your power wire? or on a seperate power source?

To all that helped with my situation: Thank you for all your help with my car stereo and I finally figured out the problem. I checked the radio fuse and the fuse on the radio, and they were fine. I cleaned the ground and it still didn't work. Then I decided to check all of the fuses. I checked the door chime fuse and found out that it was busted. It made since because the chime is a power wire fuse and no power wire means no radio!!!!! I feel really stupid, but hey now I know what to look for if something does go wrong. I remembered as well in the old Ford Mustang I had, the chime fuse blew from that radio once as well. I remembered that only AFTER the fact that I checked it. So, to all who have helped, THANK YOU!!!!!! And if you ever have a radio go off, just make sure you check you chime fuse even if the radio fuse is fine. Thanks!!!!

Glad to have helped, I don't wire my power wires into the door chime, I power it to "acc" in ignition. Once power goes on in the ignition, I got power. Less chance of blowing fuses this way. My memory wire, I tap into the hazard light wire for its constant power. Well done.
