Citroen Xantia Radio problem Sign In

I have recently purchased a 1998 Citroen Xantia fitted with a 4035 RDS Audio System which has a problem as follows:

1. The radio will ONLY work if the on/off and the BND buttons are depressed simultaneously, it will NOT work using the on/off button alone
2. When working stations change ok and volume controls are fine but the radio emits a constant beeping sound
3. After running for only a few minutes the radio switches itself off.

Any advice on solving this problem would be appreciated.

does the radio beep when any switches are depressed?? if so, you may have a bad switch. a switch that makes contact without being pressed would possibly account for the beeping and also why it may switch off on it's own.

Re: Citroen Xantia Radio problem Sign In

i have exactly the same fault with mine (4035 rds), it's a code fault. when the radio is switched on it's supposed to come up with the words 'citroen code' so as you can enter the code, if it's entered wrongly 3 times this appears (----) to say the system is locked, you're then supposed to hold the bnd button till the 'citroen code' appears, it dosen't, what i get is another set of lines appearing underneath the first set and you can't enter the code, you're then supposed to leave the radio and ignition on for at least an hour (less will mean starting again), so as the system can reset itself and 'citroen code' appears, this still dosen't work and i've been told it could take upto ten hours, i left it with the system and ignition on for 6 hours the other day....still no result! i've disconected the battery twice, still the same! switching it on whilst holding the BND button gets a result ....the radio works, but only for two to three minutes accompanied by the annoying bleep as mentioned in the original post (it's not an overheating fault) it's to show the system can be operational, but it will not allow you to enter a code.....this is extremly frustrating i have the radio code on the accompanying citroen card, but i cannot get the words 'citroen code' to appear which is needed to enter the code, i've followed the practices stated in both the handbook and a haynes manual and it's still the same, does anyone have any other suggestions and does anyone know which company manufactures this particular radio unit?
