BMW radio and speakers are good no sound

I have a 1988 735i with the original radio and 8 speakers. I have tested the radio with another speaker and it works. I have tested the speaker leads at the radio end and I get no reading, however I pulled one speaker and it reads fine. There must be something in between that I am missing and do not know where to look. Any help would be great.thanks
I found out the other day this car has a power amp in the trunk and that was my problem. After a lucky trip to the local junkyard and finding one still in the trunk I am back in business.
