Battery went dead during winter storage. Now the radio doesn't work, the dash light appears to be on but there are no radio stations displayed nor any sound. I inserted a cd and now it won't eject. Also prior to the dead battery when I put the vehicle in gear the automatic door locks activated. The door locks work by the key and the inside buttons they just don't automatically lock. Can you help? Thanks

Battery going dead will kill radio without codes to reset on many BMWs and other cars. I don't have any tricks - a dealer would and it would help if you listed the model year.

Side topic: Get a floating battery maintainer for this when in storage as it will keep battery fresh and prevent this type stuff. Dead battery left dead for some unknown time probably killed it completely and about definately if stored in freezing temps. Take it out for any testing and don't even try with that one in the car till known good. Learn your reset passwords and have them on hand. Use a "memory" saver when disconnecting the battery for any reason,

Vehicle is a 1999, 323i. Also where would I find the memory codes for this vehicle. Dealers don't even want to talk about codes or help unless you bring it and pay the $90.00 per hour service cost. I guess it's the american way now.

If you can't stand the heat why did you jump into the oven never mind just stay out of the kitchen? BTW - independant shops can get that - a Beamer dealer probably near double!

Beamers were early with tricks to kill radio systems if they lost power for anti-theft reasons. It's no good to anyone without a sequence or codes to re-enable it. May go for other items in the car as well.

It's not published or there would be no point. I really don't know except it's common with any loss of power - theft, cutting cables or a dead battery too. The car needs to be "rebooted" as far as I know. I'll bet you have to prove you own it and so forth??
