First off it would help if we knew what year, make and model of vehicle you are talking about. That being said all styles of strut front suspension have some form of bearing that the weight of the car sits on and allows the strut to pivot left and right. The way you describe yours it sounds like you have either left this bearing out or installed it incorrectly. After you let us know what breed of vehicle I’ll see if I can find an exploded view of the assembly for you. One last thing until you get this figured out, stop driving the vehicle it’s not safe. Sorry I’ve just looked through everything I have on BMW and it’s all so generic that it’s not worth posting. This is just my opinion but I’ve found that most German born car manufacturers are pretty tight lipped when it comes to repair info going out to the after market. Dan. Canadian "EH"

Thanks Dan for looking... I'll check out a local auto parts store (library section) and see what I find in the manual
