loud tapping 3.1L

Hello! This is my first post. I have a 1997 Chevy Lumina 3.1L with about 100K miles that is making a load tapping noise in the top of the engine. It has happened before intermittently but hasn't done it it months...until now. There is also noticable power loss (feels like it's choking out) when driving. I have an audio clip of the noise that I would be happy to post if possible or email to anyone who would like to give a listen. Thank you.

About all we can tell you is that there is some kind of problem in the rocker system. You're really not going to know anything until the cover is removed and it's inspected. You could have broken rockers, bad push rods, broken valve springs, etc.
