humming noise Sign In

I own a 2005 Pontac Aztek. abt 60,000miles. After a recent oil change and a 27 point inspection I noticed a humming noise when driving the car. It does not make it while idling. Sometimes it seems louder when coasting. We checked the tire pressure and had the tires rotated again and still have the same problem. We have also check the power steering fluid level and it was not low. I am going away and need to drive 4 1/2 hours one way. Should I be too concernd? What could be wrong?

Sounds like you may have a bad wheel (hub) bearing. Try swerving left to right at 30 to 40 MPH and see if the noise gets louder to one direction to confirm it.

">>tires rotated again<<"

The tires can also sound like bearings. If a long time since last rotation or "sawtoothing" shows that can be it alone or other tire faults. If so you can frequently see the flaws in the tread.

This could be more likely if it instantly started with rotating tires,
