ford ka knocking sound Please help! Sign In

Hiya, i have a Ford ka 2001 1.3 collection 88,0000 miles,it keeps making a knocking/clunking sound when going over any slight bump in the road surface.
It doesnt do it when going over a road hump though.i have had the bushes changed, new wishbones taken it to three different garages with no solution.
has anyone else ever come across this before and possibly know what it could be?Crazy

They don't sell that car where I am but doesn't matter as many/most engineering concepts are the same.

Can you duplicate this noise by just jouncing the car while still?

Consider that brake parts like calipers can wear their pins or mounts or pads become loose or lose/break anti-rattle parts and make quite a ruckus with bumps but usually shut up if you lightly drag the brakes and note that noise quits.

It's too bad shops with it hands on haven't pin pointed this for you already. At best without a lot of description noises are tough to diagnose over the web or forums. Not impossible - just tough.

Note things like it can be better or worse when slowing, turning, accelerating can help pin point the trouble,

T
