Sign In My drain cap wasn't tightened after an oil change and fell off while driving. The oil light came on and the engine cut off within seconds. There was no smoke, no noise, nothing. The mechanic to whom it was towed says the engine is finished; my mechanic friend agrees. The oil change place accepts it's their fault, but claims the car is fine. They primed the oil pump, inspected the cams, bearings, looked under the valve cover, but did not dismantle the engine to check the pistons and cylinders. Engine quit from sudden lack of any oil can't have ZERO problems. IMO a super high chance something will come up soon to prove it. An atty would probably suggest you get a total non involved check that REALLY checks not just that bull you stated they did.
