Is there an additive you can add to oil that will clean out gunk
for sticky valves

Sticking valves? You mean intake and exhaust valves?
Which engine? MMC 3.0L was known for lifter noise. First thing is to make sure the engine has good oil pressure when hot and the oil is clean. Beware of mechanic in a can.
Could be worn out valve train components or a faulty lifter(s) causing that, so without more information for you and being there to check it out, throwing a can of whatever probably won't help.
