Hello!

I have a 2001 Mercury Sable. I am having trouble with a strange (whining?) noise. It happens only at low speeds and typically when I am hitting a sharp turn and accelerating. I have uploaded a video on the web. The noise can be heard very clearly at 29 seconds, unfortunately tinypic doesnt have a duration counter but you should be able to hear it. PS sorry for my dogs annoying breathing in the background. :D

Thank you!!!

This video was taken with my iPhone, might need to turn volume up.

My fault perhaps but can't make the video links work unless clickable or just get the host site?

For now, check PS fluid level and for bubbles. If low find out where it went. If wildly full of bubbles it's cavitation AND the fluid itself can't control the bubbles which is a property of PS fluid.

May be none of that at all so try to hone in on exact item(s) making noises by nature difficult unless right there in person,

Triple click to highlight copy and paste. It seems to be working for me. Thanks :)

I did and it sort of showed a vague view of a traffic jam at night? This is what shows with my device to "tiny pic" hosting site....

That if what you meant isn't helpful for the diagnosis,

Well its an apartment complex but yeah thats it. Its hard to hear its audio coming from an iphone microphone, if you turn your volume up all the way you should be able to hear the noise maybe its just obvious to me cause I know what to listen to. If not I suppose I will just check the stuff you told me to. Thanks

PS the video is irrelevant there is nothing to watch just to hear, only way i knew to record the audio of the sound it is making.

I'm set to max volume - that still doesn't help so you have to at least check fluids - all of them and should anyway now and then.

Assorted devices to capture and play stuff via the web will be all different to the devices used so many times only marginally useful to help you.

Start ruling stuff in or out to hone in on the noise/problem as so far you nor I know if it's PS or not?

You may need to have your mechanic ride with you. I don't hear anything unusual either, except for the panting dog.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Yeah lol. It sucks having to go the mechanic cause it's quite a drive. When I check the PS fluid should I do it when it's hot, cold, after turning the wheel, etc?

Either way it should show a "cold and hot" level. Engine off. Why haven't you ruled that out before touching anything?
