Vacuum/Suction Noise

I have a 2000 vw golf GTI 1.8T that has this vacuum/suction noise everytime i start it with out the engine warming up. If the engine is hot, it will not make this noise when starting on. Just want to clarify if this is something to worry about or not, Thanks.

It is probably the air injection reaction system. The system uses an electrical air pump to blow air into the exhaust system to heat up the catalyst faster on a cold engine. You could also stop at your mechanic and have them listen to see if the noise is the characteristic of that system.
