2005 VW Polo Elite (1.4 manual 4 door)

The car started by just losing power, - eg in 3rd gear my foot would be flat on the gas but revs would stay the same and car would not speed up. It then started to idle very rough too and basically felt like it was just running on 3 cylinders.

Just a few days ago I became confused and thought I was a mechanic and I decided to change the spark plugs. I have realised now that I was wrong and I am not a mechanic because the car now won't even start!

If anyone has any ideas on what the original problem is that would be great, or even just some advise on where I might have gone wrong changing spark plugs - so I can just get there car started again, or else my girlfriend probably won't let me touch an engine again.

Thanks guys!

Mikef

That vehicle is not sold here in the states and this forum is based here in the states, so advice may be limited.

Is this coil over plug or does it have spark plug wires?

Did you install the same make and part number plugs?

You should retrace your steps. Don't know what has to be removed to install the plugs in that one, but it's possible something was left disconnected.
