2002 Toyota Avalon, xl.
Suspension issue, the rear "sway bar"? has a bad bushing. It is causing a clunk, as well as a major pull to the left.
My issue is, I know whats wrong with it, however, NO stores carry the new "sway bar."
I have the part in question pointed out in the pic below, am I calling this part by the wrong name?
Along with the bushing the threads to adjust the bar are rusted, and I cannot tighten the bar.
*Note, this is not a pic of MY Avalon, however, this IS the SAME part that has gone bad.

Your probably having trouble because that's not a sway bar. It's called a "strut bar". Some places may call it a rear tie rod. It's used to adjust the toe in the rear. The dealer is likely the only place to buy it.

Do you know if a place like Auto Zone or Advanced would carry a generic version of this part?

You can try but it's not real likely. It's probably going to be a dealer only part.

I identified the part in question via the threading. The part I need to fix is in the pic labeled as "Rear Suspension Arm Asst No. 2 LH." it is not the Strut Rod/Bar.
This is the factory arm, will I be able to tighten it, or should I try and find somewhere to replace it?

You need to change it out. Don't mess around with trying to jury rig it, this is for your rear toe adjustment and this is one of the most critical tire wearing angles there is.
I've never had to replace one but in the rust belt I'm sure this is a common item to get replace due to frozen adjusters from rust.
Take your picture to a few parts houses to give it a shot. If not luck then bite the bullet & head to the dealer to get it and make sure you get the alignment set after you change out the part.....
