Need help stuck at Vegas

Hi, If by chance is their someone who could let me know if first, my Air Pump which has froze up can be by pass/
I'm driving a 1992 2wd F150 Truck .
Also does this affect my brake system?
I'm being towed as I type to a shop and would like infor before being taken in.
I'm On my way to Cally and still have 500miles to go.
Please help

Assorted engines could make a difference and you have to fix it anyway so why not let the shop you are towing it to just replace the pump, belt no doubt and be on your way?

Good luck. Should be an in stock item and not the world to replace. On some things of the sort with two belts you could just cut that belt off for the run to fix it, others run water pump, alternator, power steering and some single belt set ups you can't just get a shorter one. You'll be on your way I bet by the time you get this note,

Why do you automatically assume they are taking advantage of you at the first opportunity? Mechanics get cars towed into them on a daily basis. Usually the tech working on it has no info at all about the driver. Why do you think we would know about anything else wrong with your truck? Is it in front of us? With the age of it, I guarantee they're going to find plenty of things going wrong with it that they will bring to your attention. They aren't trying to rip you off, they're trying to get this truck fixed and prevent future breakdowns so your road trip goes smoothly. THATS THEIR DAMN JOB! They get absolutely nothing extra for hosing you out of your money. The shop owner gets that cash. So get that out of your head.
This site is run by experienced professional mechanics, some of which are retired and some currently working in the trade. We don't get paid a dime for doing this. We freely give information and advice that we charge for on the job and that very information you want from us comes along with the accussation that we are preying upon the misfortunes of others for a quick buck. You really want help after that?
We don't need to make up problems and take advantage of people. Vehicles age and break every day everywhere. Parts wear out and need to be replaced. There is more than enough work to be done that there is no need for us to sit up on a roof like vultures waiting for some poor stranded motorist to come by to max the credit cards out of.
Think about that before you go asking for help next time. You might find nobody willing to give you any.
