2008 GMC Envoy SLT 285-hp 4.2-liter inline 6-cylinder engine. 69k miles I had my engine replaced UNDER WARRANTY in january because my engine started knocking. I figured i had just ran it with low oil or something, but the warranty wasn't valid if i had ran it with low oil or had water in my engine, so i don't know what caused the initial knocking. The engine i had put in already had 10k miles on it. i changed my oil in Late april and put 2.5 quarts in it about 3 weeks ago, and it started knocking yesterday so i checked my oil and it wasn't significantly low.. i put 2 quarts in it this afternoon and the knock is still there. Also, there's a ring that is supposed to be bolted to my battery, but the bolt was screwed into the battery with the ring just sitting on the end of it held on by a piece of rubber. i fixed that tho. but should the dealership do something about this free of charge? this is ridiculous

You put 2.5 quarts...... How can you say it wasn't low? Then again 2 quarts low. That alone could have caused the failure. Don't blame the dealer. This is all on you. If you can't keep oil in your engine you should probably find a different mode of transportation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

it wasn't really low is what i meant, i realize i waited a little long to put more in there, but like.. a week or two late. i drive to work and back and that's it. I really dont think that would be enough time to do enough damage to cause it to start knocking. especially after having them replace it 5 months ago.

No, they just can't prove do did. You have already admitted the neglect here.
