Engine Knocking Noise

Okay, so I own a 2000 Honda Civic Lx for the last few years. The other day it started to make a strange knocking noise from under the hood. From inside the car it sounded like someone was shaking up a jar of marbles or rocks. My dad took a look at it and the noise was coming from the front right of the engine. When I was looking online at cars that have the similar problem all that came up was a sticky lifter. It tends to go away after my car runs for a little bit, and comes back after the car sits for a few hours. Now my question is, if it is a sticky lifter, how do we go about fixing it? If not, what else could it be?

That is a tough one. Doesn't sound like a rod knock. Definitely not a lifter. You might have to remove the valve cover and take a look at the cam shaft under there. Check for bearing damage. Is this the passenger side or driver's side of the engine?

It sounds like its on the divers side, and it stops once the car is warmed up. I just went outside to start it up and it ran for about 3-6min and it stopped making the noise.

The timing belt and accessories are on the driver's side of the engine, so the noise could be coming from an accessory, pulley, or something behind the timing cover.
Might need to have a shop take a look at it. They might be able to pinpoint the source of the noise. You really don't want to keep running the engine because if it is something coming apart, you don't want to cause major damage to the engine, especially if it is related to the timing belt.

Will it always quit making this noise? If it isn't something blaring you in the face may be tough to find for certain. Driving or running this at all is AYOR - noises are warnings for sure,
