Buick Le Sabre 2000 DRP disabled Sign In

Okay so i hired one of those mobile mechanics to come to my house and repair my knock sensor, crankshaft sensor, and replace brake pads. But I now have a roaring sound coming from my brakes that happens rarely. So I call him up and he does a diagnostic on my car and all previous problems have been fixed but now it says the DRP is disabled, and Right and Left wheel sensor input is 0. WHat the heck happened to my poor car. Did something get fried when he was working on it. Any help would be amazing

Can you give us a little more back ground information? Why were the knock and crankshaft sensors replaced?

Did you pull codes from a module to find out the wheel speed sensors and the DRP are having trouble? If you did, can you supply us with the code numbers?

Just to add:

If that person was working on the braking system, it is possible that a wheel speed sensor harness or connector could have gotten damaged in the process of changing the pads. It is also possible that the sensors were left unplugged. Without the wheel speed sensor inputs, the DRP, ABS, and TCS will be disabled. You should contact your mechanic and tell him/her to check it out.

I got the crankshaft and the knock sensor replaced because the crankshaft sensor would shut down my car randomly and the knock sensor always gave me the service engine light on even after i got it serviced. It came back with those problems

so i hired a guy to come out and fix them for me and he did just that. but as soon as he left my ABS light was on 100% of the time for the next 3 hours then turned off.

I told him about this and he said he would take a look and couldnt find anything and the light turned off.

Three days go by and I start having a wierd roaring noise from the back wheels of my car. I ask him to come take another diagnostic again and here are two of the codes it gave c1223 c1224 and what does drp stand for?

Dynamic rear proportioning (DRP). Basically it is used to provide equal braking between the front and rear brakes. It is dynamic because the ABS system mimics the job of an actual dynamic mechanical proportioning valve that had the lever attached to the rear suspension. If the ABS system can not detect wheel speed it can't control the function of the DRP or any part of the ABS system.

Those two codes deal with left and right rear speed sensors. As you stated the computer that controls the ABS system doesn't see a voltage signal from either of those sensors while the wheels are turning.

You need to inspect the harness back there all the way to the speed sensors. Make sure there isn't any wiring damage and inspect the connectors for terminal problems. It would be kind of unusual to have both wheel speed sensors go bad at the same time.
