Battery Exploded - Please read!

My boss told me that one of our truck batteries died so i took it home and charged it on my manual charger (2amp) for abt 30 hours. i go to start my truck to get to work truck dont start so i use that charged battery to jump my truck batter and battery exploded. what happened? mad becuz boss should have warned me that battery had died on lots of occasions.

any idea what happened? dont you think boss should have told me that battery was crap and kept dying?

You had a junk battery and it should have been replaced immediately. You charged it for 30 hours and it was still dead. It should have stopped right there.

Damn! Yes they can to the point of blowing a hood off and if nearby serious acid can really hurt you. When/if a battery shorts they can emit hydrogen fast and walk away till it's all done.

I'd use ton's of baking soda all over any liquid and disposable gloves when it''s all calmed down still using all caution. Of course it needs a new one. Use care and if unsure get this done at a shop. Deserves having charging system checked and as said neutralize the acids it could have made a mess all around it.

Really if unsure send this out. Goggles a must. Guess if any voltage still there I'll kill it leaving headlights on.

Fortunately it's a bit rare but not unheard of,
