98 GMC jimmy loud airplane noise???HELP plz Sign In

I have a 98 GMC jimmy that is making a loud airplane noise. It first began after a long trip on the freeway when i exited and hit the brakes I heard a Loud airplane noise. it happened to me on the way back as well but did not occur while i was on the trip anymore. I thought it had something to do with the long distance driving until i got home and now it made the noise less than a block away while i was driving. I took it in to the shop and the mechanic said it was the front right hub bearing however that was replaced a week ago and I still heard the noise today.. ive gotten 3 different answers now and I really need help figuring this out. Thank you in advance for your time

Thanks

If the people that are actually examining the car are having a hard time determining where the noise is coming from, somebody on the Internet certainly won't be able to tell you what is wrong. It can be the output bearing on the trans or even the axle on the other side of the car. It could even be a tire making the noise. It will take a trained ear to identify it.

As said - an intermittent issue is going to be trouble to diagnose. Haven't had it happen to me but stuck fan clutch could make some wild noise at higher RPM but still you need to be there to witness intermittent stuff,

ok well i think i got it figured out thank you both, I believe it is just a wheel bearing now also so when installing a new one I need grease and not oil is that correct im sure it seems like a dumb question but im just starting to fix my own vehicle because of this wonderful economy and I got an opinion that oil is ok but it seems to me with metal on metal grease is the only option? Thank You again

That vehicle uses a sealed hub assembly in the front so you don't put anything on it. It's sealed from the factory.
