hello , my 98 ford mustang V6 . recently started making a weird noice comming from the gas tank i makes like a tapping sound when i turn my car con.. the sound comes and goes but does not get any louder when i am driving it seems to have a constant rythem. i took the gas tank down and pulled the fuel pump out and every think seemed to be fine so i put it back in and it seemd to still make the same tapping sound . not sure if it might be the fuel pump going out soon .. any one with some answers for me ..??? thanks

The fuel pump would be about the only moving part inside the tank but I would try to get someone with an experienced ear to listen to it before jumping to any conclusions.
