2014 Lancer squeeling noise when accelerating - poor acceleration Sign In

Vehicle Info:2014
Mitsubishi
Lancer Limited Edition2.0
150,000km

Hi there. This has been a long term issue that I've waited way too long to investigate. Basically my car has very poor acceleration (very high RPM to get any performance). Once I get up to speed it's fine, but getting there takes a lot of work. Aside from this, if I give it a good shot of gas from a stopped position or while moving slowly I hear what I would describe as a high-pitched "whine" or squeak. Interestingly, if I break hard I also hear the same noise. To be clear, this is very obviously coming from under the hood and not the brake system.
The fact that the noise can be produced while accelerating quickly OR braking hard leads me to believe there's a drive belt slipping or something? That would explain the noise and the lack of power?

I'd love to hear some opinions!

Well the accelerating part points to belt slippage but not the braking. Squealing when braking can only point to the brakes.

?What type of boost are the brakes? If (admit IDK for sure) they did hydro or OMG electric it's back to a plain belt issue. It's that or fighting too hard for an accessory on the check list that's on the belt I'd rule it out,
