2004 Ford Ranger Making Funny Engine/Tranny Noise Sign In

My 2004 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 w/ the 4.0 liter V6 has approx 130,000 miles on it. It has started making this noise that sounds something like a "valve rattle". The noise seems to follow the transmission's shift pattern. It starts when I begin to accelerate and always stops after the tranny changes into high gear. If I let up on the gas during this process, the noise may go away and come back as the tranny shifts gears - but it always stops after I reach high gear. I don't know if if is a tranny problem or if it is just coincidental that it follows the shifting of the tranny. I have taken it to three mechanics who all drove it and neither could tell me what the problem may be. I assume that they would have known if it was really a valve problem. There is nothing that I know of that lead to this problem. I did recently (within 3-4 months) have the transmission serviced and they did not drain the fluid the old way but by using a machine that vacuums it out by a hose. Any ideas?

Is it a chattering noise and did they listen to engine while running as you will be able to hear the sound and does it only make noise only while moving

The best that I can descibe the noise is that it sounds much like when your valves are knocking---I guess you could describe it as a chattering noise. One mechanic got down under the truck while his helper put it in gear while the engine was running, held his foot on the brakes and revved it up (what they called "loading it up") and it did make the noise. It does not make the noise while idling or being revved up in "park".

Could be spark knock. Are there any trouble codes being stored in the engine computer?

There is a TSB (05-5-9) out for spark knock during acceleration between 1800-2400 rpm. States to reprogram the PCM with an updated calibration.

Off the wall: Could this be a heat shield that is loose or rusting the spot welds?
