Hello & Thanks in advance!

I am looking for some knowledge before I hit an auto repair shop (so not to waste time or money). My Ford Focus is making a Rattling noise when I accelerate (sometimes), it does not effect performance or vibrate the car, it just makes the noise. I noticed it makes the noise most often when I accelerate and hit a dip or curve in the road (when the suspension is depressed on one side). I was told by a mechanic friend that it sounds like my heat shield has rusted out and is rubbing another part of the car that vibrates (like the engine). I am hoping this is all that is wrong, any ideas before I take it in to have it looked at?

No real common problems that I can think of..... A heat shield is very possible...... Without being able to drive the car or hear the nosie it would be very hard to guess....

Let us know what you find out...............

Near certain Sidom! The dang things in this "rust" belt especially are routine.. I save the shield if found and clamp them back tight to not rattle with stainless steel worm clamps. The spot welds of OE give out quickly - why I dunno??
