Sign In I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT with a 6.0 cyl with 145,000mi. Recently the car has been screaming/squealing when I first start the car or when I accelerate. When I get to about 45mph it will stop, but will come back once I decelerate. I called a few part stores, all saying its the serpentine belt, but it doesn't look like its falling apart at all. What else could be causing this? I know there is a pulley involved but should I replace my belt first and see if that does it, if not then order whatever pulley is needed? I don't know how old the belt is because we just bought this car 2+ months ago used. Any advice will help, I just don't want to go to the parts store knowing nothing of what I might need.
