I have 1999 vw jetta that makes a humming noise in the steering when the car is cold or when turning. This just started to happen car has 102000 miles. Could this be low on fluid? Where is the power steering cylinder located on the 99 jetta?

Thanks.

Yes, it sounds like it's low on power steering fluid. The reservoir should be right near the front of the engine. You will have to follow the lines from the pump to determine where the leak is.

Thank you for your reply. I will look for the steering cylinder and check the fluid level and look for any leaks.
