1999 Ford Mustang, 3.8 engine, 180,000 miles I drive a 1999 Ford Mustang. A couple of days ago, I noticed that the temperature gauge was hot so I stopped at the closest house I could find and stopped. The car didnt stop or start smoking or anything I just noticed the gauge. I didnt drive the car again until next morning after I put antifreeze and water in it. It seemed to be working fine afterwards. Approximately two days later while I was on the freeway, I came to a huge curve had to slow down and shifted gears I noticed a loud screeching noise when I put my foot on clutch. So I tested it again and it made the same noise. I made a stop to my parents house for about an hour got back into the car and it proceeded to make the noise again everytime the clutch was pressed. I made it halfway home and the noise just stopped. I drove to work and back home the next day and the car still seemed to be fine. The day after that though, I was able to drive the car to work again with no noise. However, when I drove to parents again I noticed freon leaking out of the car. I drove home about an hour later and of course I noticed the temperature gauge going hot again and the noise started again. But by this time I was about one minute away from house so I kept going. When I got home I put water in the car and decided to take the car to the shop the next day. The mechanic told me that it was running hot because of the radiator. He replaced it but was unable to stop that awful loud screeching high pitched noise. When I asked him what it was he told me that he didnt know and something about a "crank shaft?". Please help.

The screech sounds like a bad throw out bearing in the clutch. The coolant leak was unrelated but it sounds like you fixed that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
