1999 Blazer is having fuel problems. Sign In

I recently put some bad gasoline from my local Hess station into my truck. I have a 1999 S10 Blazer 2W. After I fueled up my truck it was having trouble starting and when I finally got it started the entire engine was jumping like it was starving for fuel. When I finally got my truck towed back to my house I then proceeded to replace to fuel filter which I might add was full of water. I then tried to start my truck and nothing. So I then dropped my fuel tank and drained out all of the gas and water that was in it. That seemed to do the trick until I started driving it today. I started my truck I noticed that my fuel pump is continually squealing and that when I push on my gas pedal my truck won't accelerate any, I have to push my pedal to the floor until my truck finally jerks and accelerates. If I don't floor it my truck will stall out. I put in $8 bucks worth of gasoline and Marvel Mystery Oil into my gas tank and drove around with it. It still is having the same issue and now I can hear it backfiring. Help?!

Take a fuel pressure reading and a fuel sample.

Surprised Hess didn't pay for your repair.

We had a lady with a Toyota Rav that got contaminated gasoline from a Gate station causing the engine to idle bad, stall, and misfire when cold. We told her that we would have to drain the tank and clean out the fuel system. She called the gas station and they confirmed they did have a problem with their fuel and paid for her repairs.

Just to add: Don't buy fuel at a gas station while it's getting fuel as it's making salad dressing out of the tank in ground!

Is that Thousand Island or Italian dressing?

EYE/Tailian! Have seen it. Worked at three way back and once owner was late getting them pumped out and sure enough and had to be a beamer no less cut right out about a mile or less from the place - damn. Wasn't my job to schedule that. It's just condensation - I can't think of why anyone would do that on purpose,

I'm surprised they don't watercut the tanks when they pump. Worked 3 years for a tugboat line in AK and was the tankerman. We had a paste that we put on a weighted tape measure prior to any fuel transfer and dipped each tank on our end and theirs. If it touched water it changed color from yellow to red. Was the consistency of gear marking compound. When we delivered JP-8 to the air force they had their own guys checking it at the time of loading and at the time of delivery.
