I have 1996 4-door automatic 2.0 cyl. Plymouth/ Chrysler Neon that’s giving me many issues. The car was given to me by my brother about 6 months ago & it has 104,000+ miles on it but its been running great until about a month ago. I when to start my car there’s a belt that squeals, it starts to jerk (once it warmed up) when I am driving which cause me issues getting up to certain speeds once it starts to jerk & starts to make an odd popping sound sometimes. It also sometimes dies when I come to a stop or lower speeds. One of the other big problems with the car is that it sometimes won’t start after being driven for along amount of time had it checked by two mechanics who told me I am not getting spark, but if I let the car sit for a few hours & cool down it starts up like a dream. And then just recently today it’s starting to over heat now. I checked all my fluids & everything is it’s supposed to be. So I am at a complete lost Frown can someone please give me some ideas or theories as to why I am having these issues & any possible ways to repair them or refer me to a good mechanic in my area (Thornton, CO). Please & thank you!

When was the last time timing belt was replaced? Not if but exactly when and the miles.

Other belts could be an issue. They make "quiet" ones for shined up pulleys that don't shut up with some miles on a car.

Goodyear - Gatorback is one.

Doesn't explain the squealing noise just yet. Belt tension needs to be right by a self adjuster on most cars,

There are 104,672 miles on the car & I spoke with my brother & the pervious owner of the car & they can't recall when the belts were all lasted changed.

Basically that tells me you don't know if they ever were? If so - there would be problems by now - IMO,
