I thought for sure this terrible noise was from the tension pulley. I have since changed out that pulley and it is still making the same sound. I really am at wits end with this. I'm scared something is going to majorly mess up before I can fix it. I don't have a lot of money and the pulley was the cheapest option to try out.

Like i said it's not the tension pulley, so what does this sound like? A bad water pump? Crank? I'm not sure what those sound like when going bad...

Any help would be so much appreciated. I am pretty much working on my car myself, as I don't have the money to have it professionally worked on. I'm no mechanic but I am trying my best here. Please help!

I guess I should add that the noise is the worst when my ac is on and i am stopped or coming to a stop. It seems like it goes right away when I hit the gas.

Eeek - sounds are funky by nature but that doesn't sound like a belt driven noise to me but something much worse....BUT do rule it out by taking belt off and just long enough to test run engine and see if noise is gone or the same. Shut off if belt driven item and spin them by hand with belt off of all pulleys totally.

I think this only came with a 3.8 and to replace a belt you needed to undo a motor mount - could be wrong but if so it really helps to have a helper to do just a new belt or take it out of the way for testing you can tie it away from anything that moves for the test.

At the moment it sounds like low oil or oil pressure but it's just a film you made not like being there. Do make sure oil and fluids are properly full of course,

Sounds like you need a harmonic balancer.
