05 cavalier: clicking in dashboard

The car is an 05 cavalier is making a clicking noise like 3 clicks per second in the dashboard whether car is running or just turned on. The air cond hasn't been working right for a long time. It'll run cold only when driving on highway and hot anyother time. Anyone know what this is? Can it be driven or does it require immediate attention?

What you are hearing sounds like the recirculation door actuator being stripped. You will have to investigate to determine if it's just the actuator or the door is jammed or broken.
That is the only door that uses an electric actuator on that car.

Not if that's what it is but at this point, nobody really knows what the problem actually is until it's inspected.

True bt I've had better luck figurin out for myself what's wrong thru research n sites like these cuz I got taken for almost $3000 from 3 diff shops on the other car I have n its in 100% worse shape when I got it back so I dnt really trust n e 1 to inspect it n tell me the truth.. but I know that the airconditioner is out n the fan doesn't turn on like its supposed to which has resulted in the engine overheating and we throw 2 huge paper routes so we carry a lot of weight. But I am curious about the fact that now when idling with the foot on the brake the car rattles from the front end on and off consistently. Is that symptoms of one problem or two?

Those are 2 different problems and that needs to be addressed in a different question.
There is only so much that can be done from a forum without seeing or hearing the problem. Now that you mention a problem with the fan, that also could be your noise but somebody is going to have to inspect it. If you don't trust the shop you're using then you need to find a different hop. Dishonest shops are the exception, not the rule.

Could be. But I know that a running car with no driving problems isn't a symptom of a completely blow transmission as one shop tried to pull, I know that upon receiving my car from the second shop it shouldn't be cutting off at every stop while being told there's nothing wrong with it, and I know that from the 3rd shop it shouldn't take 6 mechanics standing around my car to finally figure out that there was a hole in the vaccum tube plain as day after doing random work and saying my car was fixed and ready to be picked up. But yes, actually, it does have to do with my interpretation. Just not of honesty. I thank you sir for your response to my car trouble. You gave me something I hadn't checked into yet and I am grateful.

Please don't confuse incompetence with dishonesty. They are 2 entirely different issues and one may have a lot to do with the way you shop for repair facilities. Cheaper is rarely better and shopping the the guy that works the cheapest will usually lead to these issues. There are many reliable and competent shops around and the way you find them is word of mouth from other people. Once you find a good one, stay with them and spread the word to others. They may not be the cheapest hourly rate but you will be far ahead in the long run. A forum may be good for a second opinion or other advice but nothing can replace and on-site diagnosis.

I 100% agree with you cheap is not the way to go. That's why I never do. My car is my life line for without it I wouldn't have 2 of my jobs. And I don't bite the hand that feeds These places were actually highly recommended by longtime customers I personally know. At 2 shops I asked for the person personally but the downfall was letting them know that my cars health is my weakness. And absolutely a forum is good for second opinions and even third opinions but they are also good for much more. (I.e. mechanics can find sidework with people in their areas, one could help another figure out the problem wasn't extreme it was jst simply a wife who didn't believe in pumping gas, and also for some to try to hinder more than help) I'm not the only one who has this problem and people are willing to share their solutions to experiences similar to mine as I am wiling to share as well in order to try to help ease the stress that comes with unknown car woes. I wasn't 100% completely detailed in my post but that's where questions are a good tool. And no, nothing can replace an onsite diagnosis but there isn't and shouldn't be anything wrong with trying to educate oneself of all possibilities of the problem, solution, scams, recalls etc etc.
