Masking tape stuck between rotar and break pad

Masking tape stuck between rotar and break pad Sign In

I was spray painting my rims.. I moved my car with masking tape on rotar and the tape got stuck between the rotar and the break pad :/ bunched up IV there pretty good and I cant get it out.. Please help.. what do I do? Also my rotar is all sticky from the tape.. Do I need to sand down the rotar?

Sounds like you need to pull that wheel and caliper and get it out. Use a clean rag and some brakleen to clean up those pads and rotor.

Okay. . Thank you.. I guess ill just have to take it to a shop tomorrow. . Is it safe to drive to a shop do you think?

By the time you get to the shop the tape will be melted and smeared off.

I wouldn't expect a shop to spend a lot of time cleaning your mess either. You can expect an estimate for new parts.

Arggh. If all you did was move the car you are probably all set to remove tape in place with caliper removed. I'm reading into this that you don't know how to do that so don't.

Too late but why the heck did you remove the wheel which you would have to, to tape off rotor then put it back on to paint? Tow it to a shop before it's burned in. Decent masking tape should just remove and already said BrakeKleen (brand name) should remove any goo left, caliper off and clean pads too as needed. If burned in new parts would be in order,
