Brake master cylinder bleed

2010 f150 XLT 4WD 5.4L Can you successfully bleed the brake master cylinder the following way without damaging anything? Will this technique work to bleed the master cylinder? Attach a clear flexible hose to the left front wheel bleeder valve. Put the other end in the bottom of the brake fluid reservoir. Open bleeder valve. Pump brakes until all air is out of line, adding fluid as needed. Close bleeder valve. Remove hose. Would I need to bleed all the brake lines?

No, that is not the proper way to bleed. If it's just the master cyl and you didn't disturb the rest of the system you should be able to bleed the master right at the fittings. If you do end up having air in the rest of the system, then you have to bleed the normal way and let the fluid go. You DO NOT want to introduce dirty fluid from to wheel back into the reservoir. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
