sanding a PP bumper that comes preprimed Sign In

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum so I apologize if I've made any mistakes,

I need some help with this issue, I purchased a BMW M Sport bumper which is aftermarket and is a new bumper and has great fitment but one thing that has been pointed out a lot is that the bumper comes with a "primer" that is very bad quality and if painted over will cause paint to sheet off very easily. I want to remove that primer and bring the bumper back to the original PP material so how to you folks suggest to take it off?

Why do you think it's going to make the paint fall off?

If you don't like the finish it needs to be wet sanded before painting anyway.

Link deleted ............ not allowed

This is my vehicle specific forum and people reported that issue w these goodgo bumpers, one person contacted the seller and he said that the "primer" is only to protect from shipping damages

This is the bumper that I purchased:

Now I know I could leave it to the body shop to remove and repsray the primer and then go on with painting but I was hoping to save a few bucks and learn the process as well

I deleted your link to the other forum and E-bay as they are not allowed here.

If you want to strip it you can use paint stripper and a pressure cleaner but it's a real pain in the ass process.

Would a youtube link be allowed or can I PM you them? I guess the issue appears when a rock chip hits, the primer itself completely comes off along with the paint on the bumper and whats left is the raw black PP

Unless the youtube video is something you made yourself, the answer in no.

If they didn't prep the bumper properly before priming it, then yes it would have to be stripped and sanded for the new primer to adhere properly.

Can't you just buy one elsewhere to avoid this? Stripping is a lot of work to get every bit of the primer off.

Most bumpers don't come with primer on them. I've never seen one pre-primed before purchase.
