Smashed Nissa Terrano sunroof - filling it in? Sign In

Hi all

Just found this site, which looks awesome!

Anyway, my Nissan Terrano (Ford Maverick in the US) was hit by a tree at the weekend which dented the roof and smashed the sunroof. Insurance aren't willing to repair it, so I'm wondering if I can somehow fill it in instead - I don't mind if it doesn't look too great, just that it doesn't leak

Anyone any ideas on a good way to do it? I thought about getting a new sunroof but I'm thinking the dent might mean it doesn't fit.

Any ideas appreciated :)

Antony

You have to be kidding. Filler is used in thicknesses no more than 1/16 for filling scratches and small imperfections. You have structural damage.

Who mentioned filler? What an unhelpful reply!

Gut the headliner, remove what sunroof that is left and find a body shop that can cut and weld piece of sheetmetal to fit the opening. Use filler to cover imperfections. Should'nt leak.

You mentioned filler both in this quote and in your title so don't give me crap about it.

Who is your insurance carrier, so other people know to stay away from them?

You try cheesing that up and it will probably just fly off like a big snowflake....LOL. Get it fixed right, or don't fix it at all.

Here's an idea you can try:

Really? Did I? Or did I just mention filling it in? That doesn't imply using filler just like if I'd asked how to fill a glass I wouldn't haven't meant 'with filler'. Get a brain man

I unlocked it, because I am curious. Hope you don't mind.

I'm curious how the tree fell onto the top of the car and why the insurance company won't cover that.

You can unlock it if you want but I'm not letting him post any more so maybe he can answer your questions through PM..

I'll offer a quick thought here DS.
I've never heard of that car but the OP said it was the same as a Ford Maverick. If it follows the same time line and worth of a Ford Maverick then pretty much any kind of damage would total the car & the insurance compary wouldn't fix it.
They probably offered him a couple of hundred buck to total it and he didn't want to go that route.

Not sure where Maverick came from because the Terrano looks surprisingly like a Pathfinder.

My theory is the tree was trying to cross the road and the Terrano didn't yield on a right hand turn. The tree got mad and mashed the top of the vehicle and then walked over to the local Starbucks to have a Frappuccino.

Like that one comedian said.....for 2000 years there has been a huge debate about the almighty's exsistance but Allstate has him trapessing thru my yard trashin my roof.....
