Doors are unlocked but won't open Sign In

i recovered 86 fiero, I have hooked good battery to car and can't get door locks to unlock. I have pulled as hard as I can on interior door handles, and the doors won't open Any ideas on how to open the doors?

Your going to have to somehow get the door panels off and inspect in there to see if any rods may have become disconnected from the latch assembly.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Shoot. Knew 2 of these this model year didn't last long enough or kept long enough for this. Now collectible, speakers in the headrest! GM in general doors will NOT open if manually/physically in 'lock' position - others the handle unlocks the lock.

Where is the manual unlock or a key or both missing? One of a kind car to me new so forget it now. Some other vehicle makers if door lock latch or power lock actuator motor froze the unlock position of the latch inside door would NOT operate. If this was left locked and just time could be no perfect way except panel off and fuss away as the latch probably bust it beyond use again to open door.

Panel off as DS said expect some damage to panel and some foul language to just get those off!

inside lock mechanisms don't work, neither does the key. I guess I will have to break window to get inside to cut interior door panel away to expose mechanism

Re: Doors are unlocked but won't open Sign In

Up top you said you recovered this car? Do you mean this is parts to another car now or want to fix this one up?

Do you have lots of time for this? I hate to see a window broken that might be near impossible to find another.

If time and this is going to be a good parts or the finished car spray the heck down rubber to window towards latch where you expect it to be and again at the seam of door right at it. Go easy, lift door handle too and soak it thru there with a nozzle ended WD-40 first as it doesn't usually wreck anything - paint or rubber parts.

Would need a really detailed diagram of inside door (plain not going to find one fast) to use the slang name "Slim Jim" or a kit to open locked doors for cars just might get a grab on the rod and get it to open.

Isn't back window real small? If busting glass bet that glass is easier to find than door glass but be sure you can gain entry thru it if you break it or any.

Just try for as little damage as possible whatever you attempt,
